3PAR P10000 Controller Node Architecture

3PAR P10000 Controller Node Architecture:

A look into the architecture of 3PAR P10000 controller node.

3PAR P10000 Controller Node Architecture

The 3PAR GEN4 ASICs take the centre stage in the controller node. Each controller node has 2 X 3PAR GEN4 ASIC to perform all the back-end operations (RAID calculations, writing / Reading data to and from disk etc..) and got the data cache to help with its operations. The node also has 2 X Intel quad core processors which process the control information from the front-end ports and it has got control cache to help with its operations. Its either 48GB or 96 GB of total cache depending on the model.

The Node has also got 9 I/O slots which can support 8Gb/s FC adapters or post-GA 10Gb/s iSCSI and FCoE CNAs. It has also got an internal SSD disk which has the OS to boot the node and for faster offload of dirty cache in the event of power failure. Built-in ethernet ports for management and remote copy.
